DEAR COLLEAGUE:
THERE ARE STILL MANY OF YOU (INCLUDING SPEAKERS) WHO ARE PLANNING TO COME TO THE NEXT STATISTICAL MECHANICS MEETING, WHERE WE WILL CELEBRATE GENE STANLEY'S BIRTHDAY, BUT HAVE NOT YET RESPONDED. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE, PLEASE REGISTER NOW ON THE ATTACHED RESPONSE FORM. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW WELL IN ADVANCE WHETHER YOU ARE PLANNING TO JOIN US FOR THE SATURDAY DINNER, THE SUNDAY NIGHT BANQUET AND OTHER MEALS, AS WELL AS WHETHER YOU WANT TO GIVE A TALK. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) The "official" motel for the meeting is as usual the Howard Johnson Express Inn (formerly the Econolodge). Prices are $50.00 + 6% tax for a single room, and $55.00 + 6% tax for two people in a room. You may make your own reservations at 1-732-828-8000, indicating that you are participating in the meeting, or ask us to do it on the response form. There are also other "better" and more expensive places available: University Inn, at $79.00 a night for a single room (732-932-9144), New Brunswick Hyatt, at $145.00-155.00 a night (732-873-1234), and more. Please let us know and we will make the reservations for you, or call them directly, letting them know that you are participating in a Rutgers Conference.
2) The preconference dinner Saturday evening, May 5, at some (yet to be determined) local restaurant, will start at 7:00 pm. There will be transportation available from the Howard Johnson's registration desk at 6:40 pm, and back.
3) You are encouraged to bring along preprints and reprints of your work. Alternatively you could just bring a list with references to journals and archives where your work can be accessed.
